The Westside Community Council partnered with Lynn Okun of the Westside Cultural
Center to provide a scholarship to the Ventura Adult & Continuing
Education’s Technology Development Center. The scholarship was presented to Dain Acevedo, a local Westside resident, at the September 5th WCC monthly meeting.

It was purchased at an August Fundraising event at Bell Arts Factory for Artesia, a nonprofit organization which uses art as a healing tool for victims of domestic violence.
Lynn Okun spoke about how Dain was very interested in art, and had been involved with the Kids Art program for foster children for 15 years, and also participated in community projects and ArtWalks.
Dennis Huston, a teacher at the Technology Development Center , was instrumental in facilitating with the Center to provide this scholarship for the silent auction at the Artesia fundraising event, and was present to hand over the certificate to Dain, who will be pursuing a course of study in computer graphics.
