The Westside Community Council is a group of dedicated volunteers that live or work in the area known as the Westside. Since May 1994 we have been actively working to create a better, safer neighborhood in which to live, work, and raise our families. We are an organized, nonpartisan group of people focused on improving the quality of life for all on the Westside.
The WCC's bylaws were adopted in 2006.
Board of Directors
The Board of Directors for 2017 is as follows:
The Westside of Ventura, also known as the Avenue, has a long history of community involvement. The Avenue Community Council was very active and worked for many years to improve our neighborhood. Through their combined efforts, and the leadership of a determined woman named Mabel Owens, Avenue Adult/Senior Center was built and stands as a monument to those that care.
The Westside Community Council was formed in May of 1994 with the help of Avenue Community Council members, as well as other residents and business owners of Westside. Our community continues to grow and prosper, thanks to those dedicated people who have had a grand vision for the people that live in this wonderful community.
Len Evans, a Westside resident, met with then Mayor Tom Buford in an effort to initiate involvement of the Westside. A Town Hall meeting occurred with over 300 residents in attendance. People from all walks of life came together to voice their hopes and opinions, and they were heard.
None of this was done without the help and cooperation of the City of San Buenaventura and its staff of fine individuals. So many people have given so much that we, of WCC, continue to try to live up to the standards that they have set for us. Come join us as we continue to build better, safer neighborhoods in which to live, work, and raise our families.
